Policies
At Cedar & Spruce Wellness, I am committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other personal characteristic. Every person deserves to feel respected, valued, and safe while receiving care.
Clear boundaries support excellent bodywork. As a condition of working together, all clients are expected to understand and follow the policies below. These guidelines ensure a professional, ethical, and comfortable experience for everyone.
CONTACTING ME
As a solo practitioner, I am often in session and unable to return calls or messages immediately. The best way to schedule an appointment is through my online booking system, which gives you full access to my availability at any time.
Please be mindful of standard business hours when reaching out. Texts or calls late at night or very early in the morning are inappropriate, and will not receive a response. I appreciate your understanding that my time is as valuable as yours, and that I also need personal time outside of work.
BOOKING & PAYMENT
All new clients must book online to complete the required health intake forms. Online booking is available 24/7 for your convenience.
Same-day appointments are not available.
A credit card is required at the time of booking to confirm your session.
Payment at the time of booking is optional, but appreciated.
Acceptable payment methods are Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
PACKAGES & GIFT CERTIFICATES
Packages and Gift Certificates can be purchased on the Appointments page.
Packages are non-refundable but may be shared with family members.
Packages expire one year from date of purchase; unused sessions will be forfeited.
For best results, I recommend receiving bodywork every 3-5 weeks, although scheduling is entirely flexible.
Gift certificates are non-refundable but can be transferred.
Gift certificates do not expire.
LATE ARRIVALS
Sessions begin and end on time to ensure all clients receive the full benefit of their appointment. If you are late, your session will still end at the scheduled time, and the full session fee will apply. If you are more than 15 minutes late without contacting me, your appointment will be considered a no-show. Your credit card on file will then be charged the full session fee, and I will invite the next client to come in early.
CANCELLATIONS & NO-SHOWS
If you need to cancel or reschedule, I require 24 hours’ notice. Please text me directly at 860.204.7707 as soon as possible. (Do not reply to automated appointment reminders, as I will not receive those messages.)
Late cancellations (less than 24 hours’ notice) and no-shows will be charged the full session fee. If you have a package or gift certificate, the session will be forfeited. No-show clients will be required to prepay for all future appointments. The credit card on file will be charged automatically in accordance with this policy.
This policy protects my time, my income, and ensures availability for all clients.
COLD & FLU/ ILLNESS
Your health and safety (and mine) are very important. If you are feeling unwell, especially with cold or flu symptoms, you must cancel your appointment.
I understand that illness can develop suddenly. While I normally require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations, I will waive the cancellation fee if you wake up sick on the day of your appointment. I would rather lose one session than risk spreading illness and potentially missing multiple days of work.
Massage therapy can support the immune system function and overall wellness, but once you’re actively sick, massage is contraindicated. It can worsen symptoms by increasing circulation, and potentially spreading infection through your system.
Please rest, take care of yourself, and rebook when you’re feeling better. Let’s keep this space safe, healthy, and restorative for everyone.
HYGIENE & CLEANLINESS
To maintain a safe and professional environment, I follow strict protocols before, during, and after every session:
The massage table and table warmer are covered with a protective vinyl barrier and sanitized with medical-grade disinfectant (CaviWipes) between clients.
All linens are freshly laundered in hot water and dried at high heat.
Frequently touched surfaces, such as doorknobs, are disinfected regularly.
For your comfort and the cleanliness of the space, please arrive freshly showered and in clean clothing. If you need to wash up upon arrival, the restroom is always available.
These practices are in place year-round, but are especially important during cold and flu season.
SERVICE REFUSAL & TERMINATION
I provide therapeutic massage and bodywork with the goal of improving and maintaining your health and wellness. I reserve the right to refuse or terminate a session at any time if my profession or my person is disrespected or violated.
Reasons for refusal or termination include, but are not limited to:
Sexual advances or comments
Other inappropriate behavior or hate speech
Intoxication or impairment
Contagious illness or skin condition
Poor hygiene
Chronic tardiness, cancellations, or no-shows
ANIMAL ON SITE
I share my home and my office with my dog, Bruno. He will warmly greet you when you arrive.
Bruno loves people, and stays in the treatment room during sessions. His job is to help you relax and let go of stress. (Yes, he’s just napping in his bed… but please don’t tell him that’s not real work!)
If you have allergies, or prefer a pet-free environment, I completely understand that my office may not be the right fit for you.
GRATUITIES
While I deeply appreciate your generosity, tipping is not necessary. I view massage therapy as an essential part of your health and wellness plan. I align my practice with other health care professionals who do not accept gratuities, such as chiropractors and acupuncturists. If you’d like to express appreciation, channel that extra money into more frequent massage for yourself. Regular appointments benefit us both! Thank you!
